It was in 1967 that that my family acquired Wapus Lodge and made it what it is today “Quebec’s Top destination for hunting and fishing”. For the past 50 years, outfitting has been a way of life that has been transmitted from generation to generation. Always being preoccupied by the satisfaction of our customers and quality of services offered, we modernized yet keeping in mind its authenticity. We are one of a kind, we are the Wapus family!!
Wapus history
An exclusive territory of 272sq. km
An exclusive territory, where you can expect immense spaces with an incomparable diversity of wildlife for hunting, fishing, pleasure and ACTION!! Its 272sq. km territory is also divided into blocs offering private areas for bear and moose hunting, ensuring safety and peace of mind. Over 30 lakes ranging from pike, walleye, speckle trout or lake trout fishing are accessible be road, ATV trails or hiking. A good management of our territory is of the utmost importance that is why we have implanted quotas on species and lakes. Family Vacation
(July/August/September)
Given the comfort and cleanness of the cabins, more and more families and couples are present.
While you initiate some of the kids to the secrets of fishing, other members of the family might prefer to sit by the pool on those hot summer days and why not prolong the pleasure and enjoy an exquisite meal in the rustic and cozy dining room. In August, you can take a day off from fishing and enjoy wild fruit harvesting and for the mushroom lovers, you can find wide variety. Wapus offers all you need to make your stay an unforgettable memory.

Below you will find a detailed map defining the boundaries of each hunting territory along with the lakes close to the main lodge where boats and motors are already on site waiting for you. For the more enthusiasts looking for a challenge, you may want to consider other lakes accessible by ATV or hiking, combining riding and fishing.
General information
Fishing bait and Tackle
We sell worms, leaches, minnows, fishing tackle and topographical maps. Life preservers and fishing nets are available at the main lodge. Rental of fishing rod is $ 25 and fish finder $ 20 / day.
Zone and Permits
We are situated in zone 14 and we sell both fishing and hunting licences.
Bedding
Bedding is supplied in the cabins close to the main lodge until mid-September. The towels are included under American plan only (meals at the lodge). No bedding or pillows are supplied in the outpost cabins.
Hunting
While hunting for bear or moose, you are obligated to wear an orange vest. If you shoot and wound, it is considered a kill. We have a cold room to keep your big game, so after a successful hunt, stay and enjoy the rest of your vacation. For any information concerning transportation of firearms into Canada, please contact
Limits
Possession limits 6 walleye, 8 pike, 8 speckled trout (without exceeding more than 4 per lake) and 2 lake trout. For the family vacation, you may keep the parent’s limit only.
Exceptions:
- Ceizur; limit of 2 walleye per person in your possession
- Patten; limit of 2 walleye per person in your possession
- Wapus/Shierbeck/Roost/Kerrigan; Catch and release only
- Regis; limit of 2 speckle trout per person
Preserving our territory is of utmost importance to us and in order to maintain a productive territory we must preserve and plan ahead. For the walleye, it is therefore mandatory to respect the new slot size in effect, releasing all walleye 37cm (14 ½ inches) and under and 53 cm (21 inches) plus, thus allowing to keep between 37cm and 53 cm, Rulers are in all the boats.
For trophy pike, we allow you to keep 1 over 90cm (36 inches) but we highly recommend taking a picture for good memories.

Deposit
A deposit of one third (1/3) of the charge is required when the reservation is made and is non-refundable. The balance is payable upon arrival by cash. Personal cheques are accepted for the deposit only.
